BANGKOK, 27 May 2013 Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said the economic integration of ASEAN nations would lay the foundation for Asia to grow, while reiterating that the development of the Dawei deep-sea port would be an important connection between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Ms. Yingluck said during her visit to Tokyo that Asia has the potentials to develop much further, especially with the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)’s support. She emphasized the establishment of regional cooperation to set up inter-regional land, air, and sea transport links in Asia.
The Prime Minister cited Dawei Port as a point of sea connection between the Indian Ocean, Thailand’s Laem Chabang Port, and those nations in South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. Ms. Yingluck said further that she would like to see more participation in the investments not only in the Dawei project but also in other regional ones that strive for similar purposes.
