PM sends congratulatory message to Japanese PM

BANGKOK, 31 August 2011  – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has sent a congratulatory message to her newly appointed Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda; she has also ensured the readiness of the two governments to work together further.

According to Deputy Government Spokesperson Anuttama Amornvivat, Ms Yingluck on Tuesday evening sent the congratulatory message to her Japanese counterpart on behalf of the Thai government and Thai people.

In the message, Ms Yingluck has reassured the close and long friendship between the two countries given Japan has been an important ally of Thailand, voicing her confidence that the Thai and Japanese governments will work closely together under the leadership of the new Japanese prime minister.

The prime minister has also encouraged all aspects of cooperation on the issues of importance including ASEAN, the Mekong region, environment, and renewable energy, which will help promote mutual benefits between the two countries.

Ms Yingluck then voiced her readiness via the congratulatory message to meet with the new Japanese prime minister in the future to exchange opinions in topics of mutual interests.
