BANGKOK, 23 August 2011  – Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has confirmed her readiness to elucidate the government’s policy statement to Parliament as she has pledged to carry out all policies announced during election campaigns.

Ms Yingluck stated that she is ready to elucidate government policies to the public as well as ready to answer and explain queries of the opposition as long as they are made in accordance with the house regulations.

Earlier, Acting Democrat Party Leader Abhisit Vejjajiva encouraged the prime minister to express her leadership by answering all questions as the opposition was criticising her for lacking leadership if she dodges questions of the opposition in the policy statement deliberation.

The prime minister however asked the opposition to wait and see how she and her government will perform. She promised to do her best in her position and to start all policies without delay once the two-day policy debate finishes.

Asked if allusions are made to her brother ex-Prime Minister Police Lieutenant Colonel Thaksin Shinawatra in house deliberation, Ms Yingluck responded that she hoped the deliberation will be made within the framework of the policy statement.

The prime minister has started elucidating the 44-page policy statement of the government to Parliament since about 9.00 hrs on Tuesday.
