BANGKOK, 19 July 2015 – The Prime Minister has urged all state agencies to help conserve water supply.
According to Deputy government spokesman Maj Gen Sunsern Kaewkumnerd, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha has issued an urgent order to all state agencies to conserve water as much as possible given the supply is in crisis.
Gen Prayut stated that activities that consume a lot of water should also be put on hold until after the crisis has passed.
He also said that, although many feel they have money to pay for water bills, the current crisis means no one should be selfish.
The PM also urged businesses that utilise a lot of water, such as golf courses, swimming pools and hotels to first use the supply they have on hand.
For farmers, Gen Prayut said that the government would maintains a request for their cooperation in not diverting water from natural sources into their farms yet.
