Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Tuesday visited the injured victims of the shooting incident at Siam Paragon and expressed that such an incident should not have happened.
The Prime Minister and Public Health Minister Cholnan Srikaew visited three injured victims including a Chinese tourist at the King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital and the others at Police General Hospital.
Two women –one from China and the other from Myanmar were killed in the incident. Five other people – one Lao national, one Chinese and three Thais – were injured.
Mr. Srettha disclosed that he had a phone conversation with the Chinese ambassador about the entire situation, and the Chinese ambassador expressed gratitude for the Thai government’s concern.
As for the juvenile suspect who has been detained, he is being taken care of in accordance with juvenile rights, with both medical and psychological professionals providing close attention.
When asked if this incident might affect the tourism image, the Prime Minister said that this is an incident that should not have happened. He assured that the government will exercise the utmost caution.
Additionally, he mentioned that the authorities at the scene have been coordinating with the police, and everything is proceeding according to established protocols, including evacuations and patient transfers.
Efforts to rebuild confidence are ongoing, as the highest priority is given to this matter. (TNA)
