SURAT THANI, June 25 – Two men suspected of bombing Surat Thani’s prison in an attempt to blast a hole in the wall to let a drug case prisoner escape were arrested here Sunday night.

The authorities are taking them to re-enact the crime Monday afternoon.

Police are questioning the suspects, Kittisak Sikaewkong and Phutthipong Chanchua.

Both have criminal records, for stealing motorcycles, and the motorcycle used in the operation was also stolen.

Kittisak Sikaewkong confessed that Mr Mai, an inmate imprisoned in relation to a drug case, plotted to escape from Surat Thani prison and asked Nutthapong Yusakul, another prisoner in a murder case to hire Mr Kittisak to take an explosive device from a soldier to knock down the prison wall Saturday.

The police will question Mr Mai and Mr Nattapong to determine whether there are more accomplices.
