Sriracha police told our reporter that 8 men with guns had pulled over a motorcyclist and stolen his bike at 9pm on the 21st of June on the Huay Pa-Pong Saket route in Bo Win, Sriracha.
However police found the group of men near the scene a few hours later and arrested 5 of them.
Police search the pond for remains of stolen motorbikes.
One of the gang members confessed to the crime that they have been stealing motorbikes in Sriracha and Rayong many times in the past.
He said they would dismantle them and sell them for extra money. He said those pieces they didn’t want; they would throw them into a pond in Naklua to hide the evidence.
This led police to checking the pond however there was no trace of any parts from motorbikes, they believe that perhaps a fisherman had dredged the pond and sold the metal on.
Police detained the gang and charged them with theft and physical assault.
