The police have charged the Chinese woman with obstructing traffic, a violation under the Road Traffic Act, due to her inappropriate use of the electric luggage on a public road.

BANGKOK, Thailand – On August 23, the Traffic Police Division (BKK Traffic) clarified the case of a Chinese woman caught on video riding an electric luggage bag and using her phone on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. The clip, which went viral on social media, showed the woman navigating the road on the electric luggage while distracted by her phone.

According to the Traffic Police, electric luggage bags do not meet the legal definition of a “vehicle” under the Road Traffic Act and the Motor Vehicle Act. These laws specify that vehicles must be registered and suitable for road use. Since the electric luggage does not fit this definition, it is not permitted for road use.

The incident involved a foreign tourist who was later identified and found to have left Thailand on August 22, at 9:29 PM. The police have charged her with obstructing traffic, a violation under the Road Traffic Act, due to her inappropriate use of the electric luggage on a public road.

The Traffic Police urge the public to adhere to traffic laws and avoid using non-standard or unauthorized vehicles on roads to ensure safety. Anyone witnessing similar violations is encouraged to report them to the police at 1197.
