BANGKOK 16 May 2014 — The Bangkok Metropolitan Police have started a plan to help alleviate traffic congestion being caused by an increasing number of cars during the first day of the school year.
Assistant to the national police chief Pol. Lt. Gen. Ruangsak Jaritake, along with other related officials today launched a plan to help alleviate the traffic congestion that eventually comes with the opening of the school year, in front of the Bangkok Christian College in Silom area.
The plan sees police officials being posted all around the capital with an aim to provide more convenience to commuters and help to effectively direct the traffic when bottlenecks or congestions start to take place.
Parents are advised to take a maximum time of 5 seconds in front of each school to drop their children off to allow traffic to flow more smoothly. In addition, 15,000 extra volunteers have been recruited to assist local police with the traffic control operation.
