BANGKOK, Thailand – At the Royal Thai Police Headquarters on Rama I Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra inspected the preparedness of the police force for the upcoming New Year celebrations on December 26. The meeting focused on ensuring the safety and convenience of citizens and tourists nationwide, with all police units, including patrol, tourist, highway, and cyber police, committed to round-the-clock service throughout the festive season.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of facilitating travel and safeguarding lives and property. She also urged the public to utilize the “Cyber Check” website (www.เช็กก่อน.com) and mobile application, developed by the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD). This platform allows users to verify bank account numbers before transferring funds to prevent scams. It also includes features to report fraudulent accounts and alerts users to suspicious phone calls or unsafe SMS links.
The Royal Thai Police also highlighted initiatives such as the Tourist Police emergency hotline (1555), which supports eight languages—English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Hindi, German, and French—and the “Thailand Tourist Police” app with SOS and GPS-sharing functions for immediate assistance. Additionally, the Highway Police have introduced free accommodation at 205 rest areas nationwide to help long-distance travelers rest safely and reduce fatigue-related accidents.
Following the inspection, the Prime Minister presided over the opening of the Royal Thai Police’s New Year initiative, titled “New Year Gifts 2025 for the Public.” She reiterated the significance of promoting the “Cyber Check” platform, given the rising prevalence of call center scams and online fraud, as a critical tool to protect citizens from cybercrime.
The Prime Minister expressed her gratitude to all police officers for their dedication during the festive period and encouraged them to prioritize their health and well-being. She acknowledged their crucial role in ensuring the safety and prosperity of the nation, particularly during a bustling tourism season.
“I want to thank all the officers for their hard work and sacrifices. Let’s work together to make this New Year a bright and prosperous one for Thailand. I wish everyone happiness, good health, and success in the year ahead,” said the Prime Minister. (PRD)
