BANGKOK, 7 Oct 2013 – Dusit Poll has revealed that Thais prefer constructive political news and are growing tired of hearing arguments among politicians while the 2.2 trillion baht loan for the nation’s infrastructure overhauling projects and rice pledging scheme rank as news receiving the highest attention as the issues directly affect them.
The poll asked poll takers about types of political news of their preference. Out of 1,326 participants, 50.28% said they would like to hear constructive political news, particularly on tangible results of politicians’ work, saying that these kinds of news give them faith in politicians and hope of moving the nation forward.
56.93 percent of the respondents said they wished to see less of news featuring bickering among politicians, using vulgar languages as the behaviors are not suitable characteristics of role models.
Meanwhile, 52.86% said they followed developments on various government projects such as the 350 billion baht water projects and the 2.2 trillion baht infrastructure projects. Another 43.21% expressed their wish for the public to carefully analyze news before making a judgement, especially on news about parliament dissolution and cabinet reshuffles.
