LOEI, Thailand – The long holiday brought a festive atmosphere to the cooler regions of Northern and Northeastern Thailand. Over 2,000 tourists ascended Phu Kradueng, leading to a shortage of the park’s 200 porters, December 5.
In the chilly weather, tourists from across the country arrived in droves to experience the beauty of Phu Kradueng National Park, where temperatures on the summit dropped to as low as 13°C. Adisorn Hemthanon, Head of Phu Kradueng National Park, revealed that during the Father’s Day holiday, the number of visitors soared. By the morning of December 5 alone, over 2,000 tourists had entered the park.
The Forest Department’s recent announcement waiving entrance fees further boosted the turnout, resulting in a backlog of over 1,000 kilograms of luggage waiting to be carried to the summit. The park’s management asked tourists to take essential items with them while porters made multiple trips to clear the backlog. Park officials assured visitors that all stored belongings would be delivered by the end of the day.
Meanwhile, in Chiang Mai, tourists flocked to Doi Inthanon in Chom Thong District to enjoy the crisp winter air. The Kew Mae Pan viewpoint was packed with visitors, and parking lots overflowed, forcing many to park along the roadside. The morning saw heavy fog, but conditions cleared later as the sun broke through. Temperatures ranged from 11°C at the summit, 13°C at Kew Mae Pan, and 15°C at the park’s headquarters.
On December 4, Doi Inthanon welcomed 3,730 tourists, including 2,328 Thais and 1,402 foreigners, creating a lively atmosphere at the popular attraction. Park authorities reminded visitors to exercise caution on the steep mountain roads, emphasizing the importance of experienced drivers and well-maintained vehicles. (TNA)
