Paetongtarn notes that at 75 years old, Thaksin’s role is not to lead the campaign, yet he retains the constitutional right to support any candidate or party, and emphasizes that his intent is simply to meet with citizens who previously supported him.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, on November 8, explained that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s upcoming visit to Udon Thani on November 13-14 is primarily to connect with the people rather than to actively campaign. She noted that at 75 years old, Thaksin’s role is not to lead the campaign, yet he retains the constitutional right to support any candidate or party.

Paetongtarn emphasized that Thaksin’s intent is simply to meet with citizens who previously supported him. When asked if this signals Thaksin’s broader involvement in Pheu Thai’s campaign efforts, Paetongtarn clarified that Thaksin’s engagements are not a formal responsibility but rather occasional appearances.

Paetongtarn expressed confidence in Pheu Thai’s prospects in the upcoming Provincial Administrative Organization (PAO) elections, stating that the party has carefully selected its candidates and policies to address people’s needs effectively.

When questioned about her interactions with foreign leaders during her recent international visits, Paetongtarn noted, “Nearly every leader I met inquired about former Prime Minister Thaksin.”
