Princess Chulabhorn opens DMS Conference 2014

BANGKOK, 1July 2014 – Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn yesterday (June 30) presided over the opening ceremony of the 2014 Department of Medical Sciences Conference (DMSC) at the Miracle Grand Hotel in Bangkok.

The conference, which is the 22nd of its kind, is organized during June 30-July 2, by the Department of Medical Sciences to demonstrate Thailand’s confidence in the development of medical sciences and related knowledge in the country. Held under the theme ‘Medical Sciences: Prompt & Proud’, this year’s conference is being attended by more than 1,000 Thai and foreign experts in the field.

At the opening ceremony, Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn also presented the DMSC Awards 2014 to outstanding medical scientists, both Thai and foreign. The awards are divided into three categories, namely research and development, public health laboratory development and services and the production of medical science textbooks.

The 3-day conference also features an exhibition of more than 150 researches and innovations in the field of medical sciences that have been conducted to promote the health of Thai people.

The conference includes key-note speeches by well-known medical scientists in Thailand and from foreign countries who will transfer their knowledge and experiences to the participants on such topics as infectious diseases, toxic chemicals, food contaminants and local health risks that have impacts on the regional and global scales.
