BANGKOK, 18 July 2015 – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn yesterday presided over the opening of a fair “Tea House of Life” at Siam Paragon Shopping Center in Pathumwan District, Bangkok.
The fair was organized by Siam Piwat Company Limited and Nanmeebooks Publisher, to introduce a book translated by the Princess Maha Chakri and released to celebrate the auspicious occasion of her fifth-cycle birthday anniversary on April 2, 2015.
Her Royal Highness on this occasion gave a talk on her book entitled “Tea House: A Play in Three Acts” which she translated from a contemporary Chinese play by noted novelist Lao She. The book portrays life of people in the Chinese society during five decades from 1898 until post World War II, using an old big tea house in Beijing as the setting. The play contains interesting conversations in a social satirical style. It is considered a valuable Chinese literature and also holds historical value.
The royal publication made its debut to mark the 40th anniversary of the Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations.
