BANGKOK, 6 March 2015 – Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali yesterday (March 5) presided over the ceremony of presenting plaques of honor to women who have been selected Outstanding Women of the Year 2015, at a hotel in Bangkok.
The award presentation was held in conjunction with the International Women’s Day, March 8, 2015. It was organized by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour with a view to honoring women who have played an exemplary role in promoting women’s right and in the implementation of women development.
This year, a total of 29 women have been selected as outstanding working women. They represented women in six groups namely those working in the executive level, those working in the operational level, those taking independent careers, those in the labor sector and the mass media, and women in the development organizations network.
Thailand, through the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, has been campaigning for the right of woman labour by raising public awareness on the importance of working women and promoting equal opportunities in workplaces as well as developing their legal knowledge for the benefit of their lives and families. This year’s theme for the International Women’s Day celebration in Thailand is on the power of women in national reform.
