Bangkok – Thailand’s Probation Department is introducing electronic tagging for those found guilty of drunk driving in two Bangkok districts and they will have to undertake social services and help police officers.
Probation Department Director General Prasarn Mahaleetrakul said those who break the traffic rules in some districts in Bangkok will have to wear the electronic monitoring (EM) device and may not be permitted to leave their home area at night.
The devices are deployed in two Bangkok jurisdictions including Phra Nakorn North and Don Meuang, however, the imposition of the EM was up to the courts concerned.
General Mahaleetrakul called on motorists to follow the traffic rules strictly to prevent the loss of life and property.
