BANGKOK, Dec 18 – Anti-government protesters today marched to the headquarters of Thailand’s National Police Bureau, urging for progress in the shooting case of slain Ramkamhaeng student.
Protesters of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) led by former Democrat MPs Thaworn Senneam and Issara Somchai, rallied outside the police office on Rama 1 Road. Traffic in the area is
paralysed due to the large crowds.
They said no progress has been made since Taweesak Pokaew, a 21-year-old Ramkamheang student, was shot dead in the university campus on November 30.
The PDRC submitted a complaint letter to Pol Maj Gen Anucha Ramayanant, deputy spokesman for the Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), demanding that the culprits be taken for legal prosecution within seven days.
They said that police officers have applied a double standard regarding this shooting case, but quickly arrested the suspect who set afire a busload of Red Shirt protesters which took place on the same day as the killing of the student.
The protest leader said Mr Taweesak’s family has asked about the case from the PDRC and that more action will be taken if no progress is made.
