BANGKOK, Aug 21 — Thai Public Health Ministry called a meeting with physicians and nurses nationwide tomorrow, to map out strict standards for care of Ebola patients, and it wioll also inspect the disease control checkpoint at Suvarnbhumi Airport later in the afternoon.
Disease Control deputy director Dr Opas Karnkawinpong said a training session would be held for physicians and nurses across the country tomorrow, in which medical personnel would be informed of how to properly treat patients with Ebola virus.
He also plans to visit Suvarnabhumi Airport later, to inspect the airport’s disease control checkpoint to ensure that all is in order.
There has as yet been no Ebola infections reported in Thailand, but two Myanmar nationals were suspected of being infected with Ebola. However they only caught malaria, and did not travel into Thailand.
Dr Opas said the department’s measures to control Ebola remained to be the same as with Yellow Fever. Passengers traveling from the 45 countries infected with Yellow Fever must fill out an entry form and are monitored for 21 days to determine any infections.
