Public relations training program provided to health volunteers

BANGKOK, 2 October 2013  – A public relations training program is being hosted by Senangkhanikhom Hospital, for public health volunteers to improve public relations and interaction skills in the field.

Mayor of Tambon Senangkhanikhom, in Amnat Charoen Province, Mr. Putta Nariwong opened the 2-day training course at Senangkhanikhom Hospital. The program aims to improve the efficiency of public relations in promoting public health in the local area. It provides a platform for health volunteers to broaden their knowledge and understanding of their responsibility toward the local community.

Teams of experts from the Radio Thailand Amnat Charoen Station are assisting in the program by acting as the trainers providing knowledge on basic communication and interacting skills to 188 participants from health stations in Senangkhanikhom area. The participants are also taught how to commentate on special events, organize programs and write news articles.

Director of the hospital, Dr. Suradech Chawadech, stated that the induction program is a great opportunity for health volunteers as it equips them with knowledge, skills and abilities to understand concepts of mass communication and public relations and its importance as a role in improving public health. Volunteers will be able to apply this knowledge to their everyday work. If its result is satisfactory, the training will be expanded to other areas of the province.
