Public seminar held for Thailand-China railroad project

BANGKOK – The Ministry of Transport has opened the first seminar on the construction project of standard-gauge double track railroad, operated under the cooperation between Thailand and China.

The Deputy Minister of Transport Omsin Cheewapreuk has officiated the seminar to inform and receive public feedback regarding the Kingdom’s standard-gauge double track railroad construction project at Amari Watergate Hotel, Bangkok.

The seminar involves the presentation of news and information regarding the project to create an understanding among the general public, gather public opinion from the participants, as well as a dialogue session on the maximum benefits from the Thailand-China railroad project.

The seminar also covers content about the project’s cooperative framework, rail route outline, investment scheme, including economic and social benefits expected from the railway construction.

The official commencement ceremony for the Thai-Chinese railroad construction project will be held on 19 December 2015 at Chiang Rak Noi Station, Ayutthaya Province.

The Ministry of Transport will further hold other seminars to inform the public along the area along the project’s route to hear public feedback and suggestions during January – April 2016 in five provinces, namely Sara Buri, Nakhon Ratchasima, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Rayong.
