Railway bombing suspects arrested by soldiers in Narathiwat province

NARATHIWAT, 16 September 2014 – Forest rangers in Narathiwat province have arrested six men who were responsible for planting a bomb at a section of the main southern railway track on September 12.

The bomb took place between the Pa Pai and Tanyongmas stations in Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat province. The blast damaged about 20 meters of the railway track, causing all southern train services to be suspended temporarily.

Four people who were directly responsible for the bomb attacks have been arrested. The men confessed that they were the ones who chose the target and detonated the explosive. Two other members who were suspected to be involved in the plan were arrested as well.

Meanwhile, the Su-ngai Kolok Train Station has reopened and services have resumed normalcy. Police officers have also been stationed at various checkpoints to keep a close watch on possible dangers to prevent repetitions of such an incident.
