LOEI, 22 July 2015, Several provinces in the northeastern region experienced heavy rain, prompting officials to warn locals of possible flash floods.
The flash flood warning was issued from a village Phu Luang district in Loei province, asking its 700 villagers to prepare for evacuation when the local river abruptly changed color, a pre-indication of flash floods.
In Kalasin province, recent rainfall has replenished about 7-8 million cubic meters of water in Lam Pao Dam. Officials expect drought conditions to alleviate, provided rainfall continues in the province. The dam’s latest water level was recorded at 453 million cubic meters or 23 percent of total capacity. This amount can be distributed to 97 percent of the province’s agricultural areas.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Electricity Authority Office of Pattani deployed heavy machinery to remove nine fallen electric poles blocking local roads. The poles were knocked down by recent storms.
