BANGKOK, 3 July 2015  – The Rajabhat University network has reversed its decision to terminate financial dealings with Siam Commercial Bank following an urgent meeting with the bank’s executives.

The network had earlier announced that it would cut ties with the bank after a controversial online job ad specified that the bank would only recruit applicants from 14 leading universities on a given name list. The job ad drew criticism from the public and from universities whose names were not on the online list.

SCB executives held a meeting with the university network on Friday morning to clarify errors made in the job ad for the position of a financial advisor trainee and to apologize for any ill-will the ad has caused. They insisted a full-scale investigation into the incident had been launched.

Following the meeting, Rajabhat University has resolved to continue financial transactions with the bank and to establish future collaborations with the bank in a bid to produce graduates who meet the need of the job market.

SCB has insisted that all its branches are open for new graduates from all universities, and that the bank annually recruits around 2,000-3,000 new employees, several hundred of whom were graduates from Rajabhat University of different campuses.
