Ratchaburi officials arrest illegal migrant workers

RATCHABURI, 5 August 2015 – A joint military-police force in Ratchaburi Province yesterday raided a condominium construction site in Muang Ratchaburi Municipality, and discovered illegal migrant workers and child labor.

The joint task force, which sets to eradicate human trafficking issues at provincial and district levels, was being led by the Muang District Chief, and the chief provincial officer of Social Development and Human Security. During the raid, the officials found 61 illegal migrant workers. Several of them are young children aged below 15.

Initial investigations revealed the workers had entered Thailand illegally. The joint task force thoroughly inspected their documents, before detaining them at a police station in Ratchaburi’s Muang District awaiting for further legal proceedings.
