A shocking video captured the moment a reckless pickup truck driver attempted to cross the median on Kanlapaphruek Road in Bangkok, leading to a severe collision with an oncoming motorcyclist. The motorcyclist, who was traveling straight, was unable to avoid the truck and was seriously injured.
The incident occurred on the night of August 14th and was caught on camera by a bystander. The clip was shared on Facebook by user “Akaradet Yothajan,” who posted footage of the pickup truck climbing over the median strip near a PTT gas station. The accompanying caption expressed frustration over the driver’s dangerous behavior, stating, “My brother drove by and caught this on camera at 12:40 AM. This happened in front of the PTT Kanlapaphruek station. Hopefully, the motorcyclist can use this as evidence.”
After the video went viral, the driver of the pickup truck turned himself in to police, seeking to avoid interaction with the media. Pol. Lt. Col. Sonthichai Klapbua, Deputy Chief Investigator of Bang Khun Thian Police Station, provided an update, confirming that the driver admitted to reckless driving.
Authorities are continuing their investigation and have sent the driver for blood tests to check for alcohol or drugs. Depending on the results, additional charges may be filed once all evidence is collected, including medical reports determining whether the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.
