Student leader Parit ‘Penguin’ Chiwarak was released on bail after he had been arrested on Friday on multiple charges including sedition.
The charges relate to the demonstration staged by the Free Youth movement at Democracy monument on Jul 18, calling for political reforms.
He was taken to the Samran Rat police station where he was detained overnight while his supporters were gathering outside the station, demanding his release.
The police brought him to seek the Criminal Court’s approval for his further detention Saturday morning. He was later released on bail and was ordered by the court not to re-offend as a condition of his bail. After his release, Perit thanked his supporters and vowed to join a major rally in Bangkok on Sunday afternoon. (TNA)
