BANGKOK, Thailand – Aeroflot flight SU277, en route from Phuket to Moscow, safely landed at Suvarnabhumi Airport after circling in the Andaman Sea for nearly three hours due to a suspected issue with the aircraft’s landing gear.
The flight, a Boeing 777-300ER, departed Phuket Airport at 16:35 (UTC+7) on February 10, later than its scheduled time of 15:20. Initially, the plane ascended and flew northwest, reaching a cruising altitude of 22,000 feet. However, instead of heading toward Moscow, the aircraft flew in circles over the Andaman Sea, remaining at altitudes between 12,000 to 18,000 feet for over two hours.
According to reports, the plane experienced a problem with its landing gear, possibly involving an issue with the wheel cover, which could not close properly despite the wheels being stowed. After ensuring the safety of the passengers and crew, the captain opted for an emergency landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
At 21:20, the plane touched down safely at Thailand’s busiest airport, where it was met with relief by passengers and ground crews alike. (TNA)
