BANGKOK, Thailand – Renowned street food chef Supinya “Jay Fai” Junsuta has clarified reports about her retirement, Oct 31, stating she will continue operating her Michelin-starred restaurant beyond 2025.

The 81-year-old chef, famous for her signature crab omelettes and known locally as “Jay Fai,” said recent speculation about her retirement stemmed from a misunderstanding during a UN refugee fundraising event.

“I’m still strong and can stand cooking for 15 hours a day,” Jay Fai told reporters at her establishment in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon district. “How can I stop when I still have commitments abroad, including cooking engagements in France?”

Her restaurant, Jay Fai, has maintained its one Michelin star for seven consecutive years, a remarkable achievement for a street-side restaurant.

While confirming her daughter will not take over the business, Junsuta revealed plans for future projects, including collaborations with South Korea. She currently operates her restaurant four days a week – Wednesday through Saturday.

The veteran chef continues to maintain the exacting standards that earned her restaurant its Michelin star, focusing on quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods. (TNA)
