BANGKOK, 14 June 2015 – Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sek Wannamethee has reaffirmed that a piece of news about fire accident at an oil rig in Singapore and injuries of Thai workers was merely a rumor that went viral online.

The Thai Embassy in Singapore contacted Singaporean authorities and Thai workers at the site mentioned to check the validity of the photos posted online, showing the oil platform being burned and Thai workers were injured.

“The photos were just fictitious as Singaporean has no offshore oil platforms but only two onshore oil refineries located on Jurong Island and Bukom Island,” Mr. Sek said. All Thai workers at both oil refineries are still working normally,” he added.
