Bangkok – Thirty provinces have been affected by the recent thunderstorms while rescue and recovery missions are currently underway, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) Director-General Chayapol Titisak said on Saturday.
He revealed that 375 villages in the 30 provinces have been severely affected by the thunderstorms during 23-28 April, impacting 7,364 villagers with one reported fatality.
He said the DDPM has been working with local authorities and the military to provide initial help to the storm victims, deliver relief items, distribute repair materials, and conduct damage surveys in order to provide compensation according to the Ministry of Finance’s protocol.
