BANGKOK,(NNT) – The Royal Irrigation Department (RID) has prepared water pumps and water trucks nationwide to handle the drought situation, in coordination with the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation’s operations to restore water reserves.
RID Director General Sanchai Ketworachai disclosed that the RID has prepared 295 water trucks and 1,900 pumps to handle the drought situation in irrigation projects nationwide. Currently 206 water pumps are operational.
In addition, the RID will be coordinating with the Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation to initiate royal rainmaking operations to aid dams with low water reserves, which will also increase moisture in dry areas.
The RID has responded to the policy of the Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Gen. Chatchai Sarikulya to provide the best care for farmers and minimize the drought’s effects on them.
