BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department reports that northern Thailand is experiencing rising temperatures with morning fog, while the Northeast remains cool to cold. In the South, rainfall has decreased, but heavy rain persists in some southernmost areas. Authorities warn of flash floods, forest runoff, and overflowing rivers.
A weakening high-pressure system from China currently covering the upper South and the South China Sea is causing rising temperatures and morning fog across affected regions. Despite this, cool to cold weather persists in the Northeast. Northern, Central, Eastern, and upper Southern regions remain cool in the mornings. Residents are advised to take care of their health amid these changing conditions and to be cautious of fire hazards due to dry weather. Drivers should also exercise caution in areas with fog.
In the South, the weakening northeast monsoon over the Gulf of Thailand has led to reduced rainfall. However, a low-pressure area over the Strait of Malacca continues to bring heavy rain to southernmost provinces, including Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. Residents should be wary of heavy rainfall, potential flash floods, and landslides, particularly in mountainous and low-lying areas.
