Residents have reported that their houses are leaning, cracked, and have broken roof beams and tiles. They are calling on relevant authorities to provide assistance.

The embankment is located behind Wat Lum Khonkaram in Bang Kruai District. It collapsed into the river starting from the Bang Kruai Canal sluice gate for a distance of about 70 meters. In some sections, the embankment has broken apart.

The embankment, built to serve as a flood barrier was part of a project by the Nonthaburi Irrigation Office. The inside of the embankment was filled with gravel along its entire length. The embankment collapsed on May 11.

The collapse has caused water to erode the riverbank and flow into the Bang Kruai Canal. This has begun to have an impact on nearby residents. Some houses have been damaged, with leaning, cracked, and broken pillars, broken roof beams, and warped tiles.

After receiving complaints from residents, Mr. Anusorn Kaewwichain, an MP from the Move Forward Party along with relevant officials, visited the site to investigate. They revealed that the embankment was built in 2009 and that there is a project to reinforce the embankment by filling it with crushed stone.

This is because there have been problems with the embankment in the past, with water leaking under it into the area behind it. However, the cause of the collapse is still unknown. It is believed that there may have been some kind of tension or stress on the embankment that caused it to fail.

Residents are also being warned to avoid the area as there is still a risk of further collapse.

Residents in the community behind Wat Lum Khonkaram are now worried about flooding, as the area floods every year anyway. They are urging the relevant authorities to quickly repair the embankment. (TNA)
