Bangkok, 9th September 2018 – The Meteorological Department has warned of the effects of heavy rain in many parts of Thailand. Six large dams and reservoirs still contain more than 80% of their capacity.
Heavy rain on Sunday in Bangkok caused inundation of some roads. The water subsided after the rain stopped.
The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rains in Thailand until 10th September 2018 in the lower North, lower Northeast, Central Plains, East and upper South, and Bangkok and its vicinity. Heavy rain may cause flash floods and landslides.
The water level of the Mekong River in Nong Khai and Nakhon Phanom province is still being monitored.
The six large dams and reservoirs with water levels more than 80% of capacity include Nam Oon Dam, Kaeng Krachan Dam, Vajiralongkorn Dam, Srinakharin Dam, Khun Dan Prakan Chon Dam and Naruebodinchinda Reservoir.
