BANGKOK, 30 June 2014 –The Royal Thai Police have moved rapidly to end the human trafficking problem that affects Thailand. The police have integrated their plan of action with the programs of public institutions already involved in alleviating this human misery.

Pol.Gen.Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit, acting Director-General of the National Police Bureau, has held a meeting with the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and appropriate institutions, about the human trafficking problem, after Thailand’s efforts to stop the scourge were rated inadequate by the USA, on its list of countries faced with human trafficking operations on their borders. Thailand slipped from level 2 to level 3 largely because Thailand is on the access route of migrant workers being taken to third countries.

Police who have long been faced with this problem are now integrated with many institutes including government and private entrepreneurs in order to protect the human rights of laborers being transported through Thailand.
