CHONBURI, Nov 8 – A Russian boy, seriously injured in Sunday’s boat sinking in Pattaya, was pronounced dead at a hospital in this eastern seaboard province yesterday.

Provincial officials informed Sosina Sarcylana, 50, of her son’s death at Samitivej Sriracha Hospital. Mrs Sarcylana has been hospitalised since Sunday’s accident.

A double-decker boat, fully loaded with tourists, capsized after leaving Ko Lan for Pattaya, killing six people – three foreigners and three Thais. More than 10 others were injured in the incident.

The 12-year-old Russian boy became the seventh victim.

Mrs Sarcylana has experienced brain and lung inflammation after the accident. She said her son’s death is a great loss for her and she hopes the Pattaya administration will improve safety measures for tourists.
