UTHAI THANI, Thailand – Sabida Thaiseth, Deputy Minister of the Interior, has been on-site in Ban Rai District, Uthai Thani Province, assisting flood victims, October 20. Following heavy rainfall on October 19, flash floods swept through Ban Rai, inundating the area and affecting communities and main roads. Ten tourists were stranded at a resort and required evacuation.
Ms. Traisulee Traisoranakul, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, reported that the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) coordinated rescue efforts, supported by local volunteers, government personnel, and emergency units, including Zone 16 in Chainat.
Sabida closely monitored the situation throughout the night, ensuring that all victims received proper aid. The stranded tourists were successfully rescued by 9:50 p.m., and by morning, floodwaters had receded. Authorities are now cleaning the main roads to restore traffic flow.
The province continues to monitor flood risks and has issued warnings to residents in vulnerable areas, instructing them to move belongings to higher ground. Emergency coordination centers are prepared with personnel and equipment to respond 24/7 to any further emergencies.
The Ministry of Interior is also assessing the damage and providing necessary assistance according to government regulations. (TNA)
