The Ministry of Interior of Thailand conducted a sacred water consecration ceremony at Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram, also known as Wat Pho, in Bangkok.
Led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, the ceremony involved 77 sacred water containers, representing each province and Bangkok.
These containers were initially assembled at the Ministry of Interior and then transported in a ceremonial procession to Wat Pho. Upon arrival, provincial governors and the Governor of Bangkok placed the containers in the temple’s ordination hall for the consecration ritual.
The ceremony began with an offering at 14:15, followed by the main consecration at 16:30, presided over by Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayan, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin also attended the ceremony.
This event, part of broader cultural and religious celebrations, included the purification and blessing of the sacred water, which was collected from 108 sacred sources across Thailand. The water was initially blessed in a series of ceremonies held at significant temples in each province before being brought to Bangkok for the final consecration. (NNT)
