BANGKOK, 14 February 2014, The Bang Rak District Office and the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association have organized a special event for couples who are celebrating Saint Valentine’s Day by registering for marriage in the district. Ten lucky couples will be presented with gold-plated marriage certificates through the day. The first gold certificate went to a couple from Samut Prakan province who were there since six o’clock this morning.

This year the event is taking place at the CAT Telecom building on Charoenkrung Road. There are many decorated areas for the couples to take photos and various gift items for the couples to take home as souvenirs of their special Valentine’s Day. The highlight of the event seems to be the lucky draws for marriage certificates made from real gold. Many couples got to the event early in the morning to join a long line-up in front of the building.

The first lucky draw began at 8 am among 275 couples. The lucky couple had come all the way from Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province. They were there since 6 am and chose today as the day to celebrate their love because it also coincides with Makha Bucha Day, an important Buddhist holiday. They are planning to wed this year.
