Samut Songkhram – Samut Songkhram province has organized an event to mark the birthday of the world’s best known conjoined twins, brothers Eng and Chang Bunker.

Members of the Bunker family from Mount Airy, Philadelphia in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania and the local people of Samut Songkhram performed a Buddhist almsgiving ceremony on Friday for 63 monks, before taking part in blessing rites in dedication to the late Siamese twins. Governor Kanchat Tansatian also participated in the event.

The Bunker family then planted a pair of gold apple trees close to the monument of their famous ancestors. The Bunker twins were born on May 11th, 1811 in Samut Songkhram province and began a world tour in 1829 before settling down in the United States a decade later. The conjoined brothers, who fathered 21 children, died on January 17th, 1874.
