BANGKOK, 6 April 2012 – The Southern Border Provinces Administration Center (SBPAC) has initiated a project to improve the quality of life of southern border villagers with a focus on people’s participation in tackling problems in their restive areas.
Deputy Secretary-General of the SBPAC Wichian Chantharanothai said the project sought to identify problems and needs of the locals by encouraging them to play active roles in the process. The project is also aimed at developing children and adolescents in terms of education and drug prevention by supporting Tadika/Ponoh Islamic schools and Buddhist Sunday schools.
The deputy secretary-general said the SBPAC would work with Tambon-level development officials to strengthen ties between civil servants and the locals. Together they will create “Sufficiency Economy Villages” where people live a better life and their true needs are understood. Stimulation will be made to promote their thinking process and create public awareness, necessary for driving further development activities in the deep South.
