YALA, 5 June 2014 — The Southern Border Provinces Administrative Center has provided vocational education scholarships for students in the restive Far South.

More than 100 students and their parents from the three southern most provinces of Thailand gathered in the meeting hall of the SBPAC office in Yala in the ceremony that was held on Tuesday.

Those who received scholarships would be sent to high quality vocational institutions to study in courses that are in demand in the Deep South, such as hotel and tourism, auto repair, telecommunication, electronics and electricity management, and jewelry.

The SBPAC has launched the vocational scholarship program aiming to enable youths in the three southernmost provinces — Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani– to have more opportunities in finding jobs.

Moreover, 20 students have been given a chance to go and study in Indonesia under an exchange program, which is made possible through a cooperation between the SBPAC and Indonesian education institutes.
