BANGKOK – The government’s Chim Chop Chai campaign has entered its third phase where eligible persons can use the government’s wallet app to make payments and receive cashback rewards. The Comptroller General’s Department is warning the general public not to believe any person or website alleging they can help with the cashback receiving process as scammers have been found to be operating on this channel.
The Comptroller General’s Department (CGD) Deputy Director General Wilawan Phayanoi said today that the department has found evidence of scammers sending out messages to Cham Chop Chai campaign participants via social media platforms, messaging apps, and websites claiming they can help redirect the money transferred into users’ e-wallet into their bank accounts for a fee.
The CGD deputy chief said this action would violate the campaign’s terms, and users should refrain from these claimed services, and instead contact the campaign’s legal team by calling 02-270-6400 ext 7, or contact provincial financial offices in regards to cashback transfers.
The government’s Chim Chop Chai campaign is now seeing some 300,000 users making nine billion baht in gross transactions via pre-paid e-wallet balance, from 11 million registered users. The CGD started paying cashback rewards to eligible users yesterday. Eligibility is in progress for those who have yet to receive the rewards, who will be informed by SMS to their registered phone number once the decision is made.
The campaign gives users a 15% baht cashback for eligible purchases of up to 30,000 baht, and 20% cashback for eligible purchases beyond the first 30,000 baht to 50,000 baht. Each user can receive up to 8,500 baht cashback in their e-wallet balance, from which users can transfer the amount back to their bank account by themselves via internet banking services.
