The Transport Minister has asked responsible agencies to step up security measures at airports, bus terminals, and other crowded places following the spate of bombings and arson attacks in tourist hotspots last week.
Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister for Transport, has instructed airports and bus terminals across Thailand to tighten their security measures and increase the number of security personnel on site.
He has also asked members of the public not to panic and to carry on with their lives as usual, assuring them that their lives and property will be safe.
Security units including the police, the military, and tourist police have been deployed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport, both inside and outside passenger terminals. K9 units are also patrolling the compound.
Meanwhile, security measures have been beefed up at Airport Rail Link stations. Bags passing through gates are also being checked.
