NEW YORK, 9 July 2014,  – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has clarified Thailand’s current situation to the international community through the United Nation’s stage, stressing that the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) is focusing its efforts on reducing the nation’s social gaps while upholding the benefits of the people at its heart.

The statement has been delivered by Permanent Secretary of the MFA Seehasak Puangketkeaw at the High Level Political Forum Ministerial Dialogue at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.

According to Mr. Seehasak, the NCPO’s policies are inspired by His Majesty the King’s sufficiency philosophy, which emphasizes fairness, equality and partnership among Thais.

Every nation has different background and priority, said the Permanent Secretary, adding that Thailand needs to focus on public participation in addressing the national agendas. He also stressed that development would be impossible to achieve without the rule of law, while ensuring that the nation has a clear roadmap to democracy.

Mr. Seehasak’s speech has undoubtedly created understanding among the U.N. members about the context of the kingdom’s current administrative system.
