BANGKOK, 4 August 2015 – Severe weather warnings have been issued for people in the North, Northeast, and South of Thailand due to continuous rainfall.
Heavy rain has been forecast in upper and lower areas of the South until the end of this week. Rainy and inclement weather conditions have been attributed to a low pressure trough that is currently moving across Myanmar.
The southwesterly wind, which is becoming stronger in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea, will bring precipitation to the lower areas of the South during this time.
Additional weather warnings have now been extended to southern residents of Ranong, Phang Nga and Phuket provinces.
Heavy rainfall could potentially trigger flash floods in these provinces, as well as those in the North and Northeast. Small fishing vessels are cautioned to remain ashore, as waves have a maximum height of three meters in the Andaman Sea.
