BANGKOK – The Office of the Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) has inspected shophouses in urban areas where fireworks may be sold during Loy Kratong Festival and checked licenses, labeling, quality, standards and storage of fireworks.
The main targets for the OCPB inspection were shops for monk supplies in urban areas and fresh food markets reported to secretly sell fireworks and firecrackers. Only one shop with fireworks and firecrackers for sales was found without a license.
The shop owners in question denied the charge of doing business without license and argued that the authorities could not confiscate their goods or prosecute them.
Nevertheless, the officials will inspect further and strictly follow security measures to prevent children and youths from dangers of firecrackers or fireworks.
