Social Security Office provides over 17 million baht in aid after earthquake

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Social Security Office (SSO) has reportedly provided more than 17.4 million baht in compensation to workers affected by the March 28 earthquake and has prepared an additional 12.7 million baht for the families of those killed in the collapse of the State Audit Office (SAO) building in Bangkok.



According to data reported on April 3, the earthquake affected 59 provinces and disrupted operations at 179 businesses. To date, 22 insured individuals have received financial support from the SSO, including 850,000 baht for funeral costs, 15.6 million baht in death benefits, and 961,087 baht in old-age pensions or gratuities.

In the case of the SAO building collapse, 103 individuals have been identified as affected. Among them, 15 people have died, including 10 Thai nationals, three foreigners, and two individuals whose identities have not yet been confirmed. Nine people were injured, and 79 remain missing. The SSO has allocated 12,733,641 baht in benefits for the families of the deceased.


Relatives of the deceased and injured can submit the required documentation to claim benefits, with the Ministry of Labor pledging to process complete applications within seven days.

The Ministry of Labour continues to monitor developments and is coordinating additional assistance as rescue and recovery efforts progress. (NNT)
