SONGKHLA, 10 August 2015, Seafood vendors in Songkhla province have reported a shortage of fresh seafood, as fishing vessels have yet to return from offshore trips.
The shortage became more apparent yesterday when only one fishing ship arrived ashore. Vendors said the landings do not satisfy local demand and the shortage has persisted over the past couple of days.
More than 100 vessels, including large trawlers, are still at sea. Only a few smaller ships have returned to harbor at the moment.
The predicament has deprived the market of fresh seafood stock. Vendors said their supplies are merely enough to break even on expenses.
